When I indulge when I really let myself relax and enjoy something heavy, flavorful, and nostalgic, there’s only one place I’ve been choosing for decades
Conan’s Pizza in Austin, Texas.
Growing up here Conan’s wasn’t just a pizza shop it was an atmosphere. Dark wood, old-school fantasy art, Frank Frazetta style paintings, and that unmistakable Conan the Barbarian vibe that hits you the moment you walk in. If you’re into classic fantasy, retro video games, or that 80s sword and sorcery energy, you’ll feel right at home.
But the real magic?
The Savage Whole Wheat pizza my go to order forever.
I ask for no anchovies.
Large Whole wheat Thick, hearty crust.
Flavor that punches way above any other pizza in Austin imo.
I’ve tried so many great Austin pizza spots over the years Via 313, Home Slice, Baldinucci. All of them deliver in their own way.
But for me?
Conan’s Pizza takes the pie.
Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s the flavor. Maybe it’s that Austin grown identity that hasn’t changed with trends or hype. Whatever it is, it’s the indulgence I look forward to the one I keep coming back to the one that’s been with me since long before Austin’s food scene exploded.
Even as a in home personal trainer in Austin who spends his days helping clients build strength, mobility, and healthier habits, I still believe in balanced indulgence.
Conan’s is my “earned meal” the one I enjoy after a hard Austin mobile training week,
It’s proof that fitness isn’t all about restriction. it's about balance.
