After drinking black coffee for a very long time I decided to give tea a chance,  Since it has many many benefits!
I start mobile personal training around Austin around 5am,  I usually drink black as night coffee to get me going, But I like to try new things so I now drink some steady awakening tea, My Rps are no longer roaring like a muscle car that leaves a fire trail behind heading towards an empty tank,  My Rps now act more like a steady long distance luxury ride.  I feel like I have the same great level energy throughout the day.

Here are some benefits that Green tea has to offer, I'll also be trying out Black tea soon!

Fights Cancer-causing Cells - Green tea has special antioxidants that seek out and destroy free radicals that can do harm to the body's DNA. those trusty antioxidants also help with Preventing wrinkles,

It helps with your Skin,Hair and MUSCLES! When you drink tea it should help your muscles function
at more optimal levels since it helps them contract! While it doesn't necessarily block the suns rays, it does mitigate the damage that is done to the skin from the sun.

Weight loss, If you don't have much time and you want help with weight loss without changing anything else,
Might want to give green tea a chance.

Boosts Immunity, Provides Pain Relief, Reduces Risk of Heart Disease, Inhibits Formation of Blood Clots,
Reduces Risk Of High Blood Pressure, Reduces Unhealthy Blood Sugar, Reduces Psoriasis
Prevents Memory Loss, Fights Cancer-Causing Cells

The POWER of Coffee!

Few things in life are as powerful as that first sip of fresh coffee on a dreary morning. For many of us, the highlight of the day is when we lift our mug to lips and then repeat for reps!

First I drink a glass of water (about 16oz) then start sipping black coffee! For me the darker the coffee the better, Coffee intake counts towards your water intake so it can help keep you hydrated, I'm thankful for my Morning clients for hooking me up with ample Coffee( Thanks Kelly and Wayne)! It definitely Improves physical performance so I can train my clients in Austin with a crazy amount of energy in turn uplifting my clients while helping them lift!

I think Coffee might be the number one antioxidant intake I get!  Even though I love my oatmeal blue berry pancakes and dark chocolate hah!  There's studies that say coffee may add years to your life, lower stress, fight depression, improve blood circulation, even repair DNA and so much more!!!!

When its brewed black its one of the lowest calorie drinks, According to Harvard, a tablespoon of cream sugar and whole milk contains 52 calories, So I stick with black coffee the darker the better! whauhaha!  So ditch the cream & sugar.

Mmm Coffee... CHEERS and UPLIFT SOMEONE!

YOU COMMIT ONCE!

10/18/2015

Picture
Motivation gets you going,  STRONG HABITS is what gets things done!
Motivation is just a feeling. Grounded action is what gets things done!
Here's my invitation to you, Next time you feel motivated get a Pen and Paper
and write down ONE or TWO things that you're going to commit to doing every
Single day No matter what!! And I promise you, You'll become a machine and
you won't think about whether or not you're going to do it.  When you build a habit
it's engraved in your nervous system in a certain way that the brain doesn't even have to consider whether or not it get done, it just gets done! YOU COMMIT ONCE to the thing that you're going to do and you Do it every Single day!  This could work great for reconstructing your entire life.  I cannot stress how important it is to commit. Motivation is weak, Commitment builds a stronger you!  Commit once and then you do it every single day. Pick something anything and commit to it.

Its the tiny actions that move towards a worthy ideal.

Can I eat whatever I want as long as I exercise?

9/23/2015

The majority of daily caloric expenditure is not in the time spent exercising but in the total energy expenditure during 24 hours.  Approximately 3,500 calories equals a pound of body fat, so to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week you must maintain an average caloric deficit of 500 to 1,000 calories per day.  However, a person may burn 250 calories from exercise and spend the rest of the day participating in sedentary activities. Calories that are not used for energy production are stored as fat. Therefore, a person can eat 100 calories a day more then what their body needs to maintain, and in the course of 35 days, theoretically they will gain a pound of fat. Even a mere 10 extra calories a day over daily maintenance needs could add up to  a 1 pound of weight gain over 350 days!

My Advice,

Figure out what your RMR(Resting metabolic rate)
http://shapeup.org/resting-metabolic-rate-calculator/  <--- copy and paste that in your url to get a rough idea of what your RMR.

Second! Increase activity levels and make sure you drink enough water.  Try to drink at least one gallon of water a day.

Third, Keep track and write down around how many calories your eating and weigh yourself every morning.

And Yes, you can eat whatever you want and as long as you're in a caloric deficiency you will cut weight.  However, don't make most your meals nutrient poor make sure your consuming nutrient rich food at-least 90% of the time.   That's my take on it.

AMT - What is Intermittent Fasting?

8/14/2015

Picture
First of all, Intermittent fasting is not a diet and you're not starving yourself.  Those two things it's not.  Intermittent fasting is two periods of time,  That tell you when to eat and when not to eat. Again its not a diet It's a tool. So there's a not eating period and an eating period.  while you're fasting you can drink water, black coffee zero calories, stuff like that. (For me it helps me hit my gallon of water a day intake)

Understanding how intermittent fasting leads to fat loss we first need to understand the difference between the fed state and the fasted state.

Your body is in the fed state when it is digesting and absorbing food. Typically, the fed state starts when you begin eating and lasts for three to five hours as your body digests and absorbs the food you just ate. When you are in the fed state, it’s very hard for your body to burn fat because your insulin levels are high. (Its burning all that shit you just ate and not the fat hanging onto your body)

After that time span, your body goes into what is known as the post–absorptive state, which is just a fancy way of saying that your body isn’t processing a meal. The post–absorptive state lasts until 8 to 12 hours after your last meal, which is when you enter the fasted state. It is much easier for you body to burn fat in the fasted state because your insulin levels are low. (You now burn that fat hanging onto your body)

When you’re in the fasted state your body can burn fat that has been inaccessible during the fed state.

Because we don’t enter the fasted state until 12 hours after our last meal, it’s rare that our bodies are in this fat burning state. This is one of the reasons why many people who start intermittent fasting will lose fat without changing what they eat, how much they eat, or how often they exercise. Fasting puts your body in a fat burning state that you rarely make it to during a normal eating schedule.

Personally, My eating window is 12:00pm-8:00pm, So I'm skipping breakfast and I go without eating for 16 Hours. I Train in the mornings a few hours before I break my fast.

People ask me why I don't just eat 5-6 small meals a day,  I've tried that and although it does work to a degree it's hard as hell for me to drop under 9% body fat eating like that. Some people say it doesn't matter but for me it does.  This Method seems to work for me so this is my take on it, all of this is just advice.

Have a kickass day,

Paddleboardings Better

Reason Number 1: On a Kayak you sit down, On a board you stand up. BAM! You get to see a lot more! And if you get tired just sit down, lay down, plank, do whatever you want.

Reason Number 2: Exercise, Alright so I really like Kayaking, You get a damn good workout but standing you're on a whole new level, Just the simple act of balancing you engage your core, Then once you start paddling you're working out even more core not to mention upper body and lower body stabilization.

Reason Number 3: We already sit to damn much. Most people sit in an office, drive a car, Sit at home, Do we really want to sit while exercising outdoors too?

Reason Number 4:  ITS FUN! Austin has some of the best locations for it too, I'm a huge believer in the idea that exercising should be fun but more importantly safe. so below I put a link to SUP safety.

Austin Mobile Trainer - No weights? No gym? No problem.

I've had many clients ask me what they're suppose to do without a Gym in there area, Or when they go on a business trip or vacation.  Its simple dudes! Knock out a body weight exercise!  If you're at your computer at home or on a trip and you have an hour or two start exercising right then and there!

You wouldn't believe how many clients contact me and ask me, ''Hey Josue! I'd like to start working out but I want to lift heavy!'' First off,  If you can't knock out a proper push up you shouldn't be worried about adding iron weights just yet.  Body weight training will take you a far way!  If you can easily do squats or push ups or any other Body weight exercise for that matter you can push it to the limit by slowing down your tempo or adding elevation, or by doing a single leg or arm exercise not to mention the hundreds of different core exercises!

An excellent first step towards resistance training would be start training with body weight! After all, You take these weights wherever you go in life.

Austin Mobile Trainer on Healthy Food on a Budget.

5/4/2015

There are high quality organic foods out there, However this blog is for eating healthy on a budget so lets get healthiest bang out of our buck Austin Texas!

Are you strapped for cash and feel like if you buy healthy food you'll be spending more money than you'd like to? Fear not!
These foods are full of protein, healthy fats and carbs to help give you the energy to make it through your day. So lets get started.

FIRST! -Bulk Eggs.

Cheap & good you can use them on almost any recipe.  Most
Available Protein out there.  (I go to the local South Austin HEB and buy the veggie eggs a dozen comes out 2 bucks and some change)

NEXT, Extra Lean Ground Turkey.

Super high in protein you can do a lot of stuff with this. (Turkey Meatballs, Turkey Patties, Turkey Fajita, Turkey Meatloaf etc)
26 Grams of Protein per serving with only 1.5 Grams of Trans fat.
Very good healthy natural source of lean protein.  (In Between personal training sessions I sometimes eat a huge ass Turkey burger on a whole wheat bun, I sometimes think it taste even better than beef!)

MILK!( Does a body good... )

Full of Vitamins this is the basis of all proteins called whey protein
this will help build those muscles. Fat free, little bit of sugar but
don't mind that.  (I now drink almond milk however there was a time I would drink tons of Milk in my protein shakes!)

Greek Yogurt (THIS IS SPARTA!!! err Austin..)
Zero in Fat, Packed full of Protein, It also has
Probiotics Great for a last minute Dinner, Greek yogurt has casein which is a slow releasing protein which is genius before bed.

-Tilapia (workout and be healthy remember only dead fish go with the flow)
Super lean protien source, I recommend getting a fresh tilapia , but
especially being on a cheap diet you wanna get the frozen stuff.  I go to the H.E.B

frozen section here in Austin Texas.  (Keeps me in buff shape for Personal Training and I love crushing coconut water cans)

-Boneless Skinless Chicken (Remember to wash your hands)
(Again I Recommend getting Fresh unthawed chicken however being on
a cheap budget best next thing is the Frozen boneless chicken.)
I would Recommend cooking them all at the same time. The more available
to you the more muscle you'll build without going down the street to KFC or wherever.

Sweet Potatoes (sweeeeeeeet)
Sweet potatoes or Yams are going to be a very good complex carb source for almost every meal. Excellent, Cheap & Delicious!
Super filling and a great source of slow releasing energy!  (I make Sweet potato fries all the time!) (I avoid regular white potatoes because of there high GI content that stuff turns into sugar way to quickly spiking my insulin levels)

-Peanut Butter (big fan of Peanut butter)
It has natural healthy fats, Help keep energy up during the day. (they sell some good Peanut butter here in Local Austin stores like H.E.B read the labels, look for peanuts as the only ingredient.)

-Brown Rice (I buy the 2lb bag)
Include it in your chicken, Talipia, Long extended Energy.
it will help build muscle.

-Coffee (Excellent preworkout!)
Smells Delicious taste great, This is a natural thermogenic
Great before a morning exercise or maybe an afternoon exercise.

-Green Tea
If you're not a fan of Coffee then Green tea for long extnded energy. '

-Old Fashion Oats! (get the flakey ones! just don't become flakey!)
Include this in your eating habit and I guarantee you'll find yourself with more energy
and more muscle.  (Stay away from Instant oats people jeez!!! And steal cut oats is basically just old fashion oats that has stuff added to it like flax seed but with a hiked price!)

-Tuna
Nice lean Protein, Damn Cheap you can make a shitload of it,
watch out for the sodium drink a ton of water.

OH, AND MAKE SURE YOU DRINK A TON OF WATER!!!!!!

With all these foods pre-make your meals for the week that way you have something available at all times,  You'll have no excuse to go to the convenient store to grab a snack.  leaving no excuses.

Tone up, Lose Fat, and get shredded by eating right here in Austin Texas!
The most important thing is how to eat and catch enough sleep! Be in love with your body! Peace!
